Our tutors take legal practitioners, or aspiring professionals, through a journey covering the history of law in the United Kingdom and the impact of this legacy on global legal systems. Participants will be exposed to different specialties of law including commercial law and criminal law and will receive guidance on passing the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE) in the United Kingdom.

Each Jeremy Bentham Scholar will engage with topics in International Relations, History, Law and Literature in tutorials and seminars. Scholars can also choose a Writing Elective – either Creative Writing, or Research & Writing for the Media.

Our Tutors have covered the works of Chaucer, Shakespeare and early classics of English Literature in past courses. In the past, VIP Guest Tutors have also discussed authors such as CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. In 2026, we will discuss literature in the context of Britishness and Britain in the modern age of geopolitics.
In this course, we discuss the concept of 'Britishness' and explore British influences on the world we know today. Our tutors will facilitate discussions around specific events and movements in British History and contextualise it to the central themes of the 2026 overall course.
Do you wonder how states and leaders create foreign and domestic policy? How do states interact with one another on the world stage, and who are the political philosophers who influenced the creation of the modern state? This course covers the theoretical aspects of IR in a comprehensive manner.
Our law tutors will explain the unique nature of the development of law in the United Kingdom and its influence abroad. We will challenege our scholars to unravel topics such as written constitutions v unwritten constitutions, and Britain's expertise in regulatory law.
We get right to the business of writing in this course because we believe every person has a story to tell. Our Tutor discusses key aspects of great works of fiction including character development, plot and story evolution, pacing, dialogue, and other essential elements of writing.
This elective will focus on non-fiction writing in the context of academic (Oxbridge style) research and writing methods. We also explore writing for the media through the lens of the BBC and the London think tank world covering Op-Eds and Press Releases.

The Oxford Exchange has arranged for each of our adult scholars to receive a coveted "Bodleian Library Card" providing access to the extensive library system run by the University. Imagine reading your assignments in the 15th Century Duke Humfrey's Library?

Most adult cohorts enjoy a London Day Trip and an extra night in Oxford. Our Senior Scholar-in-Residence will lead the group on a journey via private transport to London and back with tours of sites such as The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Churchill War Rooms, and other sites.
